Named after a garbled wording of everyone's favorite all-American beer, Bad Wizard cranks out a brand of hard-swigging rock and roll that can knock you to the floor, then make you get up and yell for more. For everyone who likes it tough, tight and tasty, this band's for you.
Coming together in NYC in the year 2000, Bad Wizard quickly earned a reputation as one of the most hellacious and hard rocking acts around. With the twin guitar attack of Eddie Lynch and Tina Gorin blasting folks back to the arena-age, and front man Curtis Brown blowing like a Carolina hurricane, it wasn't long before bands like Turbo Negro and the Datsuns came to see them as brothers (and sister) in arms. The Wiz toured mercilessly with these and many others (the Melvins, Deep Purple, Andrew WK, Muhdoney), slaying audiences and converting crowds across Canada and the US.
After years of tearing up the asphalt of North America and playing every imaginable type of gig from the dive-iest biker bar to the Kentucky Derby, the band invaded Europe in 2005 when they toured with RTX, hitting every capitol from Oslo to Barcelona. That tour ended in Camber Sands, England, where they were invited to play back-to-back nights at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival and then open for Slint at their sold out show in London's Forum theater.
Upon their return to the States, and with the addition of drummer John Sherman and bassist Kurt Midness, Bad Wizard gathered in Los Angeles to record their fourth full-length CD. Produced by Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux and RTX, Sky High captures the band exploring new sonic dimensions while retaining the spirit of a balls-out boogie band that their fans have come to love and expect.
